I'll start out by saying I'm not a lawn pro so I've never owned a commercial mower before. But I recently bought a house with a large yard and prefer to walk rather than ride, so when I found this mower it seemed like an easy call. Bought a 48" Lesco gear drive (model 38720) with a Kawasaki engine which starts on the first pull and runs great. Problem is it keeps throwing the main blade belt. I'm not going to dwell on whether it was a good purchase or not, I just want it operating right.
I'm a good mechanic (cars) and have worked on all other kinds of stuff so I'm not worried but I can't find any online parts diagram or websites that sell parts. When I go to the Lesco/John Deere site it is no help - they don't seem to have any diagrams or way to find the parts I need.
Here's what I have found: 1. The idler pulley has a bearing spacer that appears to have been welded and has too much play - it needs to be replaced. 2. I need to replace all the deck belts. 3. I need to change oil and filters.
Like I said, it runs great, and really cuts great while the belt is on. What I need to know is:
1. Is there a place to buy parts online or mail order that is trustworthy?
2. Is there a way to get an owners manual?
3. Any other advice?
Thanks,
Shane
