Under $2k. Hydro pump fans only last 300 hours, so make sure you have a dealer nearby.

However, there are better stand-on units out there. I won't be purchasing another one. :alien::alien::alien:

I suppose so. After the re-design, they were suppose to be better. My biggest complaint would have to be the unit is horrible on hillsides. However, it is built well. Mine has around 1100 hours now. Only problem I've had is a broken pump pump due to the idler arm and the pump fans falling apart at around 300 hours. Oh, and the parking brake is near useless on the stock tires. When I replaced them with the same sized TurfSavers they now stay engaged. I use Mobil 1 10w30 and change the filter at least every 75 hours. Uses very little oil to date. I just don't like how the machine handles....

A reasonably well maintained 23 hp kawi should last at last 2500 hours.

I must have had a lemon...I am cautious of John Deere and gas engines in general.

I hope you do get 3000 hours...good luck!

I didn't think you guys mlssed me. I been lurking around.

My kaws are 25s but the blocks are the same. I have one with 2700 and one with 3300. I had the heads redone (cleaned up) at 2000 on both of them. Replaced head gaskets as well as some others that leaked. I change oil between 75 and 100 hours. I blow the grass out of the cooling fins EVERYDAY and I quit before it hits 96 degrees. I'm too old and my brains are already fried. These are JD Z-tracks. I had a homeowner with a rather large yard offer $3000 for either of them but one is my second mower and the other is a spare. I bought a 2007 with 82 hrs this spring which is my main mower. It's nice to have three with relatively the same parts.

Hard to say what yours is worth without looking at it, but the JD's resale is usually higher than most others.

I prefer Kubota diesel, but run both ‘Bota and Deere simply because I got a great deal on the JD...they also both have a magnificent cut. Cost was also best when I bought my present JD.

I may have had a JD turd in an earlier life....my present JD equipment is great; probably because I maintain it perfectly. The old one was when I was getting started and I bought it used.

What I like best about the JD is the deck (big surprise there) but overall I suspect the difference between a properly maintained JD, Kubota, Exmark or Ferris / Toro (and most other commercial riders) is so close that it just comes down to personal taste, and price incentives when you buy.

To start off, I'm a huge fan of JD! Have a 757 and 997. One of the biggest reasons being that if you break down, it's nearly a guarantee that they will have the part on hand that you need. Another reason is the deck, I mow several cemetery's and talk about being hard on decks. Other than the paint being scratched up, there's not a crack or bent piece on either one.

A small bit of advice on 25 horse kawi's (horizontal shaft), if you let them idle down for about 10 min. after running them it will allow the block and the valve sleves cool but not to rapidly. cleaning the engine compartment out is a huge help as well.
