Strange that, all the talk is about walk behinds, can't see the reason myself.
Down under here in NZ any LCO that is into bigger lawns has one, not sure if they are the most popular model but for pick up jobs there is nothing else that comes close. They are a finishing mower not a rough cut mower although will cut rougher areas they are best at making your lawn look good.
If you think that they are expensive over there then try our prices, the small 13 hp is $20,000, 18hp $25,000 the big diesel approx $35,000.
I have a 11hp model with 42" deck a bit small for commercial work but all I could afford to get started. Very reliable have done 500 hours in the last year, replaced a PTO drive belt, and hydro fan. Still on original blades sharpened every 8 hours. Hit dog chains, steel fence posts all with no major damage.
Also have a 42" side discharge/mulch deck, all walkers will take all decks up to 74" (subject to engine size) they are very easy to change, PTO driven, full floating deck.
Plan on updating next season to the 18 hp with 48" pick up deck and 54" side discharge, I expect productivity gains of 25%, due to the deck size and increased HP.
Have a look at the walker web site and the walker talk Mag on the site. http://www.walkermowers.com
They are not the fastest mower 6.5 Mph but very manuverable and quite compact.
Go get a walker test drive you will be impresed
They cost a lot cause they are built to last, 6000 hours is not uncommon have heard of 13000 but thats pushing it.
