  • What Kind of mower?

    Hi,
I am looking for a walk behind. Not sure what kind to get. Next season will be my first "real" season for mowing. Right now I have just a couple of lawns that I can do with a small push mower. I have been doing everything else but mowing pretty much. (leaves, planting, mulching, pruning/ hedge trimming etc.) What I think I need is a 36" walk behind, doesn't have to be fancy...doesn't have to be hydro...

Is Exmark any good or should I be looking at somthing else? I hope to have at least 30-40 lawns for next season. Should I bother with used or should I buy new? As of right now, I need somthing that I would be able to load in the back of my pick-up. Don't have the trailer yet...

Sorry for so many questions, still new to the game...any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    -Bill

30-40 lawns? Definiently go new or as close to new as you can for that many lawns.. For that many lawns, I might advise you buy a hydro, they are A LOT easier to operate and don't make you near as tired as gear drivens.
Brand.. Exmark, John Deere, Toro, Lesco, Gravely are all great mowers.

My first commercial mower was an Exmark, we ran that thing into the ground and then some, great mower. All the above suggestions are good. Belts can be frustrating when cutting in wet grass, they tend to slip, but you can save some money. We currently run a 36" Scag for backyards and like the Exmark, a great mower. Check out www.gemplers.com for ramps to load/unload your mower.
