  • Best sulky. . .

Which sulky do you like the best and why? I've looked at ones on the internet without wheels, single and two wheels, caster wheels, stand-on and ones with a seat. I haven't tried any out, yet.

    Hey nlls, and welcome.
I recently went through this dilema myself. I have a Lesco 48" WB and it had a 2 wheel sulke but it was rigidly mounted on both the left and right side of the frame. It was horrible! When I made a Z turn the tires would rotate slightly and then dig into the turf! So, I started researching the vast world of sulkies. To make a long story short, I settled on the original "Velke" single wheel $235.00.
This may sound like alot of money, but hey, I didn't lose any accounts like I surely would have with the other one tearing up their lawns. Hope this helps.

PS: The "Velke" brand actually rotates 360 degrees so backing up is very easy. I priced another model, and be aware, some only rotate 90 degrees making backing up very difficult and time-consuming.

"Velke" brand, 2 wheel setup for gear w/b, some people call them Sulkies (I do, some don't). For hydros, the 2 caster wheel will treat you good.

Get the correct length for your mower.

I got a Velke for my 48" Lesco about 2 weeks ago and it is leaving a bad looking line in the middle of the stripes. For my good lawns, I'm taking it off and walking for the front and side yards and putting it back on for the backyards. But I know some 2-wheels live marks and dig up turf. If you can walk, do it and it will look better. I have chndromalacia patella and my knee is in an immoblizer for 3 weeks, so the velke is saving my life right now!![]

        Good luck!

I have the two-wheeled sulky made by Heavener (thats what was on it when I bought it). The wheels on the sulky are the same width as my drive tires so there are only two tracks instead of three or four.[]

Greenman, I haven't found any links to 'Heavener' sulkies. Do you have any more information?

Not buying a two wheel is probably the worst decision I have made in this biz so far...

Looks like the 2 wheel caster model on mowersulky.com will work best for z turns. Most of my turns are end of row 180's. I have a belt drive 11 hp 36". Think it has enough power for the caster model? (I'm 180 lbs) Greenman, it looks like it will track in line with the rear tires. . .

I dont have the caster model, mine is the TS2000 model. Mine is on my 15 hp Metro (belt drive). I do a lot of 180 turns at the end of a row to make my stripes (I hate those divots). I haven't had any probs (I am 135 lbs.).
