  • Lesco viper

I cut 15 lawns a week with a 48'' bobcat walkbehind, however I want to move up to a 54'' ZT rider. I aim to cut about 25 lawns a week ( I do this on the side ) and for me with start up cost the Lesco Viper seems to be the way to go as it is $2500 less than Dixie or Bobcat. Can anyone give me their info on the Viper.

Its a Pile of JUNK!!!! Not worth The money.. Ask about warranty work. Its a joke Ask about parts, Lesco doesnt stock parts for mowers, If you break down it could be weeks before you get it back.

Look for something else. You can get a Toro "ZT" Rider anywhere from $4,500 To $8,000

Actually Mr. All Terrain, Lesco makes great equipment. I go in there whenever I have a problem, and they know how to fix it. I needed a grease plug and they had it in stock. I needed an idler tension spring and they had it in stock. I don't know what your talking about unless there's a curse to the non- New York Lesco dealers, but if you get into the service centers they have every part for every mower in stock and their labor is $40 an hour.. Half of (Ontrac) John Deere labor.. The only thing I couldn't find at Lesco was the paint for the deck. I wanted to spray the edges but they changed the color and they dont make that color anymore (1998 model)..
tipptop: Dixie's are garbage. They say they are the fastest, that may be true, but the faster you go, the more lawn you tear up. I would get the Lesco Z-two, not the viper.

All depends on where you ARE.It's true that some service centers are pretty bad. I've got a Viper. 54/23. Three years now and its NOT junk. Excellent service from the centers in both Tampa and Lakeland.
NEVER a problem with parts either. If the machine needs to stay I get a loaner till my machine is fixed. In my 15 years Lesco has been the only one to stand behind me when I need support.
Like I said some cities have pretty shoddy Lesco stores. Not here.
If you are looking at one make sure the store will stand behind you if you need them.
The price WILL be better than Scag,Exmark, etc. But then again you have to pay more for brand names sometimes. Just like any other consumer product.
AT... you don't need to speak for all of us that have Lesco machines. Your rant about the Viper would not hold water here.Lots of guys have them and are satisfied. If you have a lousy Lesco in your area keep your opinions to your locale please.

            Hello Everybody:

Ok, First I don't Know Much about Lesco. I've Heard Nothing but Good about Them. But...

I think that Lesco Would be in the Same Catagory as Your Local Power Equipment Dealers. There's Good Ones & Bad Ones.

It Would Be Based on the Owner or Store Manager of that Paticular Location.

AT....yes your opinions are meant to be put up here. Just don't speak for all of us and the kind of equipment we may use.
Your locale... If your area has a lousy Lesco center aim your comments at that particular center. You don't know diddly about how the centers are run here in Tampa and Lakeland. (Not trying to be nasty.) What is the norm in one city does not make it the norm for the entire country.
              That was my point.

Well, I can't say if they are junk or not because I have never used one.I do know this though, there is a LCO around here that uses a Lesco wb and it leaves one of the worst cuts I have ever seen. I have heard people say that they cut poorly.

Its not the mower that leaves the poor cut. Its the inexperienced scrub that can't operate that mower. Mowers don't paint stripes, they're just the tool to actually make it happen. My neighbor has a 2 acre lawn and he has a 2000 JD HD45 walkbehind. I have a 1998 Lesco 48" Walkbehind. We are both obsessed and its a contest all year to see who can have the greenist and best looking lawn. He can't mow good stripes and that has an effect on cut quality and apperance. Any commercial mower will cut good if you know how to use it and keep up on the maintenance....
