I was going to buy a Trimstar back in spring but did not care for their controls.

Why is this thread up? Dated 2002??

We have 3 Hustler mowers that see regular use. A 2005 model 1536 36" walkbehind with protero sulky, a 2006 model 1754 54" walkbehind with bull rider sulky and a 1972 model 272 72" mower.
The walkbehinds have only needed an electric clutch(1536 under warranty) and frame welding(1754 under warranty) and a few new belts and both have over 2000 hrs on them, all with the sulkies since new and we pound them hard on hills, slopes and some washboard lawns and the lighest operator is 155 lbs. We change our hydro fluid every yr and engine oil @ 50 hr intervals, and both have new drive tires and tubes in the front tires also. We tried a Trimstar when they first came out and IMO they are not worth the money.
The 272 has had alot of work on it since new(Uncle was original owner)and even though serviced@50hr it is on its 3rd K582 engine but the pumps and wheel motors are OE and work great. We have the broom for it and this one goes yr round and is not stored.
Hustler makes a good product as long as you stay away from the residential stuff, and would buy another old style H-bar walkbehind without a second thought as they ROCK!
