I am going to buy a exmark 36wb belt drive and and the dealer is asking 2499.00 for the ecs and 1950.00 for the pistal grip. This will be for my part time work and maybe my entry level mower if i go full time next season. What should i buy? Is the ecs worth 500.00. That could be my trailer cost right there. NEED HELP!

Well I have the pistol grip emark 36" WB and have had no problem with it. Just put the mulch kit on it also and love it even better. I bought this for my entry level machine and am going to buy another next year (ztr exmark) I am very impressed with this brand.

I'm i the process of buying two new ExMark wb's right now (36 and 52 hydros). I used to have the pistol grip on my 36 wb (sold it) and am now in the process of selling the new 36 wb (pistol grip) I replaced it with. Reason: I will never use a belt-driven mower again. Once you use hydros, you will most likely never go back. As for the grip, I demoed the ECS and liked it a lot. Nothing wrong with the pistol grip, however the ECS feels a little more comfortable and less fatigue will come of it. Only complaint I've heard about the ECS is haveing trouble pushing it down to get up on curbs with it. Doesn't really apply to my business though so I need not worry about that.

Once you use the ECS handle (especially with a sulky) you will never be able to use a pistol grip again wether it be hydro or belt driven. It puts you in a much more ergonomical position for mowing than the pistols. Best bet is to go to your local dealer and use them both. You should immediately be able to tell the obvious difference between the two.Tools for a Time
