  • John Deere Lawn Mowers???

I realize John Deere Mowers are generally a little pricey, because of the pretty green and yellow paint. Are they really quality mowers. My parents neighbor just bought a regular rider and it cuts good. But he paid alot. If I can get a good price on a new w/b or ztr are the worth it[?]

My neighbor just bought a 2002 JD 325.. The thing doesn't stripe for ****.. He has the bagger on it and it bags well but my Lesco cuts alot better..

BTW: He paid $4500 for his and I paid $2000 for mine..

If you have the money and like JD's, go ahead and buy them, I don't think they're worth it and parts are really expensive....

lol how true.they are definately pricey.but i do have two of them and they hold up real well.certainly wouldnt use them if i was cutting 25 or more lawns/would assuredly use a exmark or comparable wb . one of my 300 series riders is set up with a hydraulic rototiller for spring and fall rototilling. make a decent $$$$ with it.

        Dear Cole,
I don't know for sure what would be wrong with quality's neighbor's 325, but I presently run 3 John Deere riders. A '93 188 (17hp v-twin kaw., '97 345 18hp kaw v-twin, and my newest addition, a '02 485 25hp e.f.i. v-twin. This thing is heavy duty!) These are all liquid cooled. They are all running strong so far! They DO stripe great, and if you have a dealer like mine...you can get a matching price on most comparable machines. I don't think you can get parts for much cheaper anyway, but JD has the best parts system of any equipment manufacturer I've known about if that makes up for it. You need a part? If the dealer doesn't have it in stock they'll have it for you the next day! You can't beat that. Even if they do cost a few hundred more, it's all worth it when you see the guy with that ugly dixie chopper gauking at your hott looking Deere. If you've got a good JD dealer in your area that you know you can trust, and you can get a deal on one, I'd say go for it.

Check out Deere.com for complete grounds maintenance lineup...when you price them on there, take off about $2000-$2750 and that's about what they should price them at your dealer...at least at my local one.

Tell me if ya get one! I'm pretty sure if you do you'll be saying "nothing runs like a deere"

I forgot.. The nice thing is JD makes every kind of attachment you would ever want.. Its harder to put attachments on wb's and ztrs..

The tractors are good but a z just is so much more productive. We started out with deere 318's in 96 and like fatherdeere said they cut good stripe good. But a ztr is the way to go .

The problem i have with deere ztr's is the stamped 7 iron deck but i aint gonna say if they cut good or bad because we never owned one..
Their 21inch mower is excellent but pricey .It mulchs and bags great but if you bag the bag sure fills up quick. The big walkbehinds we had cut good but not any thing spectactular like a exmark or scag walkbehind.
And like fatherdeere said their parts network is top of the line .

Thanks gang. I am just going to go in and check out first and see if I can demo or something. Like fearthedeere said When you pull up to that ugly dixie chopper or really for most others on the market you could have a pretty green JD.

Oh one more thing. Has anyone seen that new 7iron deck for JD commercial mowers. W/B or ZTR. Looks very nice.

i run a m665 (ztr) w/ 7 iron deck 25 kohler. cuts great, plenty of power, i have no complaints. i also run 2 gs75 w/b belt drive w/ 17 kawa. i have done everything but bush hog with these. they are plenty tough and have only required belts, blades and oil changes.the w/b stripes excellent!
