The Encore WB's I looked at were junk. There ZTR's don't look much better. They seem to fall somewhere between homeowner & com. grade & I believe they actually offer a 14hp Tecumseh on one of their units. From what I've heard the spindles break like pencils & they have numerous other quality issues.

Have you ever seen the big prowler? I saw one at my JD dealer the other day that had a 27hp Kaw. e.f.i. It looked pretty quality to me, but this is coming from the man who's never ran a ztr before! hehe ttyl.

Hadn't seen the prowler. I have done some comparisons to Exmarks riders. The hydro pumps are the same, both are hyrogrear BDP-10, both have Parker/Ross wheel drive motors, both have 10 ga.deck + 7 ga. on top plate. I have heard nothing but good about the kawasakis.Exmarks spindles are case aluminum with 1 3/4" shaft with sealed maintenance free bearings.Encore spindles are cast aluminum with 1" shaft with sealed maintenance free bearings. This is also a new design.I know, big difference on diameter, but also found that Dixie chopper runs 1" spindles also.I don't know if DC is aluminum or steel greasable or maintenance free.Scag once run a 1" spindle, now they have 1 1/8" cast iron with greasable tappered bearings.
