Zack, I don't spend extra time trying to "hide" clippings....keep grasping at straws, it's kind of funny. Half of what you said doesn't even make sense.

Cole, he knows what I am saying, he is just simply looking to start trouble in hopes to get another thread locked up.

Oh, and I might as well say this too...Zack, you claim the Exmark shoots grass farther. So I guess instead of my double perimeter cuts, you need triple?? Sweet...great time saver. Who ever said anything about re-cutting thick grass in the center. Again, making stuff up to prove a point that isn't worth proving. And your third sentence? What are you even talking about, where are you even getting these ideas? It's like debating with a wall sometimes.

Oh wait...just say "No no, I ment mulcher, yeh mulcher is what I was referring too!"

Zack, you would have looked better had you just stopped after the first few posts. Now you are just looking for an arguement and it shows......HUH, that sounds familiar.

Perimeter cut the whole lawn twice, blowing into the lawn. Start on one side of the lawn, and blow it into the uncut grass. Turn around, put the middle of the mower on the tire tracks you just made and go back up the lawn cutting half the strip you just cut. Continue all the way across, it will all mulch in as you go. You're actually doing the same thing as bagging, never letting the clippings go into the "CUT" part of the lawn. When you reach the other side, you'll have your two perimeter cuts that will hide any extra clippings. If it getts too thick, mow a few stripes in the middle of the lawn so you can "HIDE" the clippings as you work across. No Stripes, No garbage, No bagging! Didn't quite get that? Go back and read it again! My grandma can stripe a lawn!

Did I misunderstand this method which sounds excessively time consuming if all you are hoping to achieve is the "bagged" look. I very rarely have to double cut a lawn & rarely am I forced to allow the dispersal side & clippings dictate the mowing pattern.

When I use the Toro's I double cut lawns & cut with the dispersal much more frequently to "hide" the clippings.

<br />Honestly, when I have looked at both mowers, I think the Scag looks more as if someone threw it together, welding pieces here and there to make it work. I know they are good mowers, but my impression is opposite yours. I really saw it when I purchased a Scag ZTR about 7 years ago. Nice cutting machine, but didn't seem very well thought out. The new models look much better. And that Scag with the rear turning wheel you sit on?? Ha, that thing looks like a 15 minute after thought!! I'm just glad you don't get so defensive with that big pile of sheet metal you cut lawns with!!

Hey, if it makes you feel any better, the Toro 36" doesn't have that "re-bar" anywhere on it!

I do think Scag makes one great ZTR, the cub will likely be my next rider purchase.

Ah shucks Scape...I'm only fun'nin ya! [] To tell the truth, there are some things about the SCAG that don't particularly appeal to me to. And you're right - the SCAG, while built like a tank, has it's own little quirks and design flaws. I don't care much for the WB's SCAGS myslef that's why I'm using Snappers. And the "re-bar" thing -- that's all it is...just a thang! []

Good luck Man (you're goin' to need it with those Toro's LOL!)

I can get a 48" w/15 Kaw and it seemed like a pretty good deal?

Zack, thank you for proving my point!!! You simply quoted a post that backs up what I just said.

The method is not time consuming at all. It takes less time than mowing the whole thing twice. And it's not confusing.

Oh, I'm out for high paid quality...not low paid quantity, so we can spend more time.

If they prefer the stripes, they get them, if not, they don't. We have ALOT of lawns, 90% are under 8,000 sq ft. The rest are under 15,000 sq ft. I wouldn't double cut it if I was mowing large properties, as I said.

We still stripe commercial if needed. I'm standing on the corner sidewalk taking this picture, so you can see how big the lawn is. Uh, that's $82 for that cut. Gives my employees time to make it look good. Notice the grass to the right of the picture has been cut once, the stuff to the left has been double cut. Huh, Toro seems to have striped pretty good even with the first pass. Go figure.

If you are paid for high quality cuts all the more reason to go eXmark. You will spend less time trying to achieve the quality you strive for.

Personally I give a rats azz about quality as long as the customers don't complain & I get off the prop. quickly. Since switching to eXmarks FACT: customer complaints have dropped FACT: Production has increased.

Just think what that quality cut could do for you.

Dancom, I agree 100% buddy! 100% satisfaction is our goal, we charge top dollar not just for a good job, but for the good service aspect of it too. We don't get complaints about out quality, and we get alot of compliments on our good consistent service. Some don't worry as much about price, they aren't willing to switch companies and chance their business appearance going down hill to save them $20 per week on a multi-million dollar business loaction.

I wanted to stay out of this pointless argument, but Zack, the things you say sometimes keep me from it. I've read tons of posts from you on this forum, some good, but many bad. You like to argue with Scaper over nothign just for the sake of arguing with people, and you repeatidly make comments that only a scrub would make. You say you'll cut any lawn for $18, you tried to persuade newbies to lowball (who are the people that ruin this business for the rest of us), and you swear by any piece of equipment you own as the only good piece out there. And the above quote by Dancom proves just how much of a scrub you really are. To all the newbies on this forum, you would be wise to ignore any advice by Zack. Your arguments just don't hold up considering the ridiculous comments you consistently make.

Well, while the SCAG WB is a good machine, I think there are better ones - at least "ones" that have a better tracking system. I assume the SCAG WB you are looking at is a belt drive model? No matter really for what I'm about to say. The tracking system that SCAG uses is nothing short of archaic. I can adjust the tracking of my Snapper 48" Pro's right from the handlebars (where it should be) no need to stop the mower on a hill (where you are most likely going to want to tweak the tracking) - you can adjust it on the fly. Because you can adjust on the fly - it's inherently easier to adjust. With the SCAG it's a process of stop - bend over and adjust - test and then possibly repeat the process several times.

Also, the SCAG is a fixed deck which doesn't appeal to me.

There. You have at least two reasons why SCAG doesn't make the best WB. In my most humble opinion of course! []

While I think discussions like these are informative - generally, I do have to admit that I've noticed some animosity between dear Zack and our Scapper. I have no idea of the history of this, or how it all started. I'm not even sure I care to know.

But to accuse Zack of thinking his equipment is the only good piece of equipment is pointless. We ARE ALL guilty of this! For example, I like Snapper WB's and SCAG ZTR's. I suspect one of the reasons is that I OWN THEM!??

I don't mind people poking fun at me, or my choices in equipment; but when the exchange becomes personal then I have to ask myself, "what is there to be gained"?

Scapper and Zack are most definitely very competitive people, who are most likely VERY successful at what they have decided to do in their lives. I suspect that's where some of the "abrasion" stems from.

Myself? I think I could learn a lot from both Zack and Scapper - I'm just waiting for the dog fight to stop! []

I'm sorry you didn't like my remark about Zack. The fact is, I am not guilty of this as you claim to be. I have admitted several times on this forum that I had made a bad choice and bought a bad piece of equipment (i.e. the Bobcat WB I bought last Spring). I am also sorry you missed the whole point of that post, which was the fact that all Zack likes to do is argue with Scaper, when it is always over absolutley pointless ****. Zack may own a piece of equipment that he realizes isn't worth a damn, but he will argue the opposite on this forum for the simple sake of wasting people's time. The point that should be taken away fromm this topic is that both Toro and ExMark have proven to make poeple like ourselves happy. Therefore, both are good pieces of equipment. Stop arguing over the pointless ****.

One reason many larger landscape contractors use Toro mowers is they carry a much wider range of equipment, from golf course management equip., to irrigation to landcape. Also they have a larger distribution network. eXmark makes mowers period.

The Toro SFS deck is due for a redesign & some refinement. Same basic design for many years now. Many man., eXmark included have surpassed Toro in terms of cut quality & design over the past few years. The Toro deck needs to be made deeper & perhaps some sort of removable front baffle to chop clippings up finer on in med. to low growth conditions.

Customers tell the tale since I made the switch. Less complaints, less double cuts, acceptable looking lawns in less time. That's all I need to go by.
