  • Wright Stander -any complaints or compliments?

Has anyone used a Wright Stander mower before? If so what do you feel about them or what have you heard?

    stander

Awsome machine!..... If it fits your needs , I have a 36' with a 15 hp pull start motor. They offer a 17 hp with electric start but I have never regretted the smaller motor, It starts easy and has plenty of hp. Highly manuverable..almost too ****y, you have to resist the urge to turn fast because you will create "turn burns" Standers are built like mini tanks and reliablity is not an issue I love using this mower!:p

Not a Wright Stander but we demo a Great Dane.

I just could not get the hang of steer`n her straight, but those machines save trailer space and are so darn more productive than a W/B. I still thinking about picking one up this month.

The fixed deck can be a problem.

The fact that their is so much weight over the rear tires means you will have to make slower turns than with a hydro walk to avoid scuffing. Many three point turns where a hydro walk could zero turn.

wheel base is a little short for the weight that is on that machine, i have a 36" and in good conditions it save me a lot of time.
dont bother taking it on hill if its wet. you will get stuck instantly.
i think sometimes i should have gone with a 36 hydro walk behind. i like the stander, it works well for me, but not when its wet. i'm too busy to not mow when its wet so it sometimes it creates some problems. i would say on a scale of 1 to 10 i would give it an 8.
            10 for speed
            10 for reliability
6 for cutting in wet conditions.

These units seem really nice. But are they worth so much extra money. Would it be more beneficial to purchase a WB

Re: Wright Stander -any complaints or compliments?

Demo the unit on nice grass before you get it. The 36's have a problem leaving a strip of uncut grass down the center. I own a 6 year old 36RH that cuts fine. I also have a 2 year old 36RH that has been in the shop twice for a month and leaves a strip down the middle (new blades all the measurements check out). I was told a new mower does the same thing so they would not do anything for me. I have lost customers because of this machine and now have a $8000.00 paper weight.

Re: Wright Stander -any complaints or compliments?

I have had a great experience with the Wright Mowers. I live in Baltimore, MD and I like to use local businesses. Wright is actually from Fredericks, MD. So anyway, I have a 36" Wright Stander, a 52" Wright Stander X, and 2 61" Stander ZK's. These machines move. I have had no problem with any of them, with the exception of the 36 due to its getting a little old. I would reccomend the Wright machines to anybody. Weather your using them commercially, or just for private use.

Re: Wright Stander -any complaints or compliments?

I agree with that. It does tend to scuff up a yard if your doing a lot of zero turns. But the machine moves so fast on the straight lines that I make up a lot of time even by doing a tree point turn.
