Go with either an ExMark, Toro, or Lawnboy.

          mowtrimblow,

I bought a lawn boy 6 hp 2-stroke self propell this spring for $450.00 with a free 6-pack of oil mix at my local John Deere dealer. It has a great quality of cut if you keep those blades sharp and is running well.

i also use lawnboys 6.5 duraforce 2 strokers. they are versatile and you dont have to worry about locking one up on hillsides like you woul a 4 stroker. i bought 2 in spring of 2002 for 407.00 each new.

I bought two 6.5hp 4cyl Toro High Wheel Recycler Mowers for $299 each. They are the best 22" mowers I've ever used and come with a 2-yr warranty!

I have 2 Toro proline 21's that I bought used from another lco who changes out his trim mowers every 2 years. I put new wheels and wheel adjustment mechanisms on them and they do great. They are my main mowers presently. They are the 2 stroke Suzuki's and are excellent for mulching. For bagging I use a high end homeowner Snapper with a B&S engine.

I have an Ariens LM21SW. It is the swivel wheel model. 6.75 hp. a few years ago I had a parking lot to do with 35 islands. Each Island had 2 crape myrtles on it with circular mulch beds around them. This mower made cutting them a breeze. I say that if you have alot of beds to go around, then the Ariens is the best choice. It retails on their website for 599.00

I may be wrong, but i think Exmark just came out with a new 21 or 22 with the deep deck design. I am going to check it out. Bags too if needed.

                      You are wrong!

The eXmark 21"'s are Toro's with fewer engine choices, a slightly higher sticker price, & no mulching kickers. The deep deck eXmark deck is the Ultra & it only comes on full size Lazer's & Tracers.

Guys running Toro's & Honda 21"s have to bag in the spring. I run Lawnboys & discharge that pesky spring growth!

We currently use the Toro 22" 6.5hp self propelled push mowers. Have a pretty good cut but are a little hard to crank on really cold days. They were around $300 a piece if memory serves me right.

I saw a couple guys in my town run John Deere 21". I had the choice between the lawnboy or the John Deere at my dealership, and though being a John Deere guy...I chose the lawnboy because of the 2-stroke engine and 3-in-one versatility to mulch, side discharge, or bag.

I totally agree with qualitylandscaping. I bought two myself and they are terrific. I have never been more sold on a mower in my life after what toro did. 22 inch cut and a 2 year guaranteed to start in 2 pulls or less warrantee. They are terrific!
