  • Husqvarna equipment

Hi everyone, I posted earlier with the new buisness question. I have a ton more so I hope I dont drive everyone crazy! I have budgeted for all Husqvarna equipment from ZTR to weed eater to edger to pole pruner, etc. Anyone have any comments on this brand? i have used Husqvarna before when I mangaged the grounds maintenance for a nursery and always seemed to get good results. Just thought I would get opinions from other pro's before I invest heavily in them.
    Thanks, Larkspur

I just bought a husky ztr, 42in w/18 a kawasaki. Just got it this spring so I can't really give you any solid info just as of yet but I've had no problems with it so far. I know with the dual tanks, I think 11gals total, it runs all day, and that is about the extent of it.
Now as far as hand power tools,,, Stihl all the way. I'll never get anything else. I've ran echo, tanaka, john deere, and multiple residential look-a-like commercial brands but Stihl has proven to be the best for me.
Ask your dealer if you can give em a trial run along with a few other quality brands, then decide. Also find out what kind of warranty comes with the equipment.
In addition, do you have jobs lined up yet to make your payments on all this new equipment plus cover your additional bills? I lucked out and this older lady from church had a rider I could use in trade to cut her lawn. I bought an ugly used trailer, refurbished hand held blower, manual hedge trimmers, a cheapo weedeater, and no edger. As monies came in I bought more equipment. By the end of my first year I had all the Stihl power hand tools needed, new tractor, and that ugly used trailer.
If you have the skills, jobs lined up, and can afford to make ends meet, I say go ahead and get that cool orange stuff!!!

Thanks for the advice Scott. I have a few jobs lined up. I put together a start-up cost in my Business plan ( by the way, the SBA is a wonderful FREE resource for anyone wanting to start a small business!)I budgeted for a truck, trailer and equipment plus working capital. I think though even when I get my loan, I will only buy equipment as needed instead of all at once. I hope I am doing this the right way. My biz will be a full service landscaping and lawn business. I graduated with a degree in Ornamental Plant Production and a degree in Landscape Design and Grounds Mgmt. I have worked threee years on one of the largest nuseries in the U.S. I spent my time assisting in New plant products and Nursery Research and Developement. I also managed the grounds crew there. We took care of a 5 acre display garden as well as the grounds for 3 offices (about 1-2 acres each office. i definately have the hands on experience. i just hope I can get the budgeting, time management and pricing experience!

I can vouch for Husky chainsaws, they are very rugged. I dropped one from about 40 feet in a tree, it hit the ground and stayed running and had no damage.

I love Husqvarna. They make incredible small power tools. Their trimmers would rank at the top of the list for many that tried them. And their chainsaws are of the best in the world. That is one company that really thinks and designs a well built piece of equipment. You should never worry about any purchase from them. Not to mention they have been in business for over 300 years. Yeh, I said 300 years.

Husqvarna makes top of the line equipment.

Thanks for the info Scaper. I have used the Husqvarna edger and string trimmer and love them. The ZTR I wasn't sure about and had not heard a lot about them. I run a Kubota ZD21 at work and have had the worst problem with bolts breaking o it everywhere. For $8 grand you think they would spend more time making sure those bolts were strong. We havn't even had it a year yet and have had to replace 8 broken bolts! My husband told me about Husky motorcycles, said they are some of the best in the world. If a company can last 300 years, they must be doing something right!

The only thing I can comment on is their back pack blower. We use one and I love it. Powerful and light enough that it's not breaking my back. This is our 2nd year and it starts right up every time.
