  • Ever used Great Dane Mowers?

    Hello all,

All of you on this site have been very helpful. However I have seen nobody mention anything about great dane mowers. Now I have used everything from toros to scag to dixie choppers and yes qualitylandscaping, lesco's, but I have never used a great dane. The one that looks interesting to me is the one that you stand on the back of, not the walk behinds. I have seen a few around town and they look like they would be good to use because of their setup. Any input on these mowers would be helpful. Here is the link to the page if you have never seen one.

I have never used them but the few posts that I have read about them say thay they are crap. Not my opinion, just forwarding other's opinions.

My friend in school helps his dad in their mowing business and they have the super surfer (as you're talking about) and the Chariot 60". He's really happy with them and will swear by them. I don't know many specifics about them. I've seen some of their yards and they don't have any stripes in them though, and are just average looking. Nothing exceptional. I have seen another guy around town with the super surfer and his does stripe pretty well and his props are very nice looking. John Deere has just bought Great Dane out here recently (ever wonder why they have a JD model the same setup as the super surfer?) I don't know if they're built very well or noth. Other than that, I've heard the good, the bad, and the ugly on here. Hope this helps a bit. If I were you, I'd stick with the scags. I'd venture to say they're one of the toughest built units from what I hear!

Thanks for the input, I was just wondering, the scag turf tiger is still the best rider I have found. However, I swear by the toros for walk behinds.

Hi everyone! I have a Great Dane super surfer and I have nothing but great things to say about it! I think it is a great machine! Don't knock it till you try it.

i demoed a super surfer for a week and took it back early because i hated it. for a few dollars more you can buy a ztr rider, they are taller than a w/b so maneuvering around low limb trees is more difficult and loadin on to my trailer the deck would hang every time eithout raising the cutting hight all the way. it nedd a general deck lift like the riders. my opinion is thet you cant do everything with a rider or a supersurfer but you can do just about anything easier with a w/b. unless you have larger properties. just my .02
