  • commercial ariens mower/? string trimmers

HAS ANYONE SEEN THE NEW COMMERCIAL ARIENS MOWER, WITH A BBC, THERE MOWERS ARE ALSO BEING MARKETED AS GRAVELY (HOWEVER WITHOUT BBC). NOT REALLY A BAD LOOKING MACHINE.

I WOULD ALSO LIKE AN IDEA IF ANYONE BUT ME LIKES TO USE A GOOD QUALITY CURVED SHAFT TRIMMER. I DO NOT SEE MANY COMMERCIAL CO'S USING THEM HOWEVER AND BEFORE YOU DISREGARD. I DO ACKNOWLEDGE THE MERITS AND DURABILITY OF STRAIGHT SHAFT TRIMMERS BUT I DO NOT ABUSE MY EQUIPMENT AND MOST IMPORTANTLY MY REASONING IS THIS. I AM RIGHT HANDED AND PREFER MY RIGHT HAND AS MOST DO AT THE ENGINE I ALSO LIKE TO WALK FORWARD IT IS SIMPLY MOST EFFICIENT. THE ROTATION OF A CURVED SHAFT BEING CLOCKWISE THEREFORE THROWS YOUR CLIPPING AWAY FROM THE BEDS.

      ariens or gravely

i was thinking about purchasing a ariens or a gravely 21' mower the ariens is $600 and the gravely is $800 they have same deck except for a few bolts and the handle is stronger on the gravely. i used the gravely at my dealer and i sure did love it. top speed had me jogging quite fast. the main differences between the mowers is the engine. ariens has a briggs 6.75 intek ohv and tyhe gravely a honda 5.5 ohv. What would you guys choose between the two mowers? what is better briggs or honda?

Honda will last you longer in the long run! It also cranks out more torque. Check the stats on the two engines and you will see the differences.

Take the B&S with the higher HP. You will need it in taller grass. I'vr never had any problems with either engine.

Fishinagin, I also find a curved shaft more comfortable, but it's hard to find any that are well-built (also harder to reach under wider shrubs).

I have had 2 of the ariens 21" models you are looking at, I probably would not buy again because they both had problems with the self propelled drive system, solid machine but that part just sucked so I sold them!
