  • Scag or Exmark TT

I am also looking for a nice walk behind and I am undecided between the Scag and the Exmark TT. The Scag has the quality of cut that I'm looking for but it a much heavier machine and I like the ECT control system on the Exmark. I'm a small growing business and need help deciding. Would you start with a gear drive and advance to a hydro or go for gold. I have walked behind both machines but not cut with either one.

Hydro is worth the money, without a doubt. Will last you for years, and be more productive. I'd get the exmark TTHP, but scags are great too.

Go eXmark hydro, but the Scag is a fine machine.

I love my TTHP...I would go for it. In my opinion exmarks cut better than scags.

The TT is an entirely different beast than the TTHP.

              used scag

2000 model 48" hydro with what I'm told about 350 hours on it with a Kaw. 18hp, used commercially. Have not viewed it yet, it is at a distant store. I may be able to view tomorrow or Monday. They told me they may be asking about 2200 dollars but not definant until they get there eyes on it. Any feed back on this with this information and what I should look out for on this machine for wear signs.

              Thanks, mitch

I really like the ECS controlls on the exmarks, mo missing fingers. I have a TT60/23 and a TTHP48/17

                  htexas,
I bought a 2003 ExMark Turf Tracer HP 48" cut last summer and paid $6,300.00 with the sulky. Out of all the mowers that we have, that has been the best purchase.

There are some exciting new Walks in the works from eXmark.

The TTHP's compact footprint & nimble control system make them an excellent choice for smaller turf areas.

I bought my TTHP 48" last spring for $4800.00 plus tax and a sulky.

Exmark hydro is a better machine. Cuts better, handels better, and in the long run most stores have exmark parts. (they are owned by toro) Pay the extra money and have a machine for life, but this is only my opinion.

Only one guy around here sells the ExMarks. Pretty much gets to set his own price tag. Sucks too!!!

Just got the call today, they will have the scag tomorrow and i'm going to look at it. thanks for your reply, I just can't afford an expensive mower at this time. Will need another contract or two before that happens.
