JD SST-15 for 1.5 ac.?

My neighbor had given me a ride to my local dealer and was checking out possible replacements for his home LT. When he explained that he has never liked the control sticks on my ZTR, the salesman had him try the John Deere SST (regular steering wheel). He loved it and asked me to look it over. It looked pretty sturdy for a residential unit and was priced at $2500 (couldn't believe the 15 hp Kohler engine was $300-400 less than the 16 hp B&S!). Anyone familiar with the SST-15 or heard anything that he should know? Thanx...

I'm not familiar w/ the SST, but I'm very familiar with a Kohler engine. Kohler makes better tiolets than engines!!! That's my story and I"m stickin 2 it.

SST for 1.5 ac. is fine. Kohler is better than the B&S so that is the way I would go on the SST. Anyone who has had problems with a Kohler may need a little training on how to change the oil and air filter, that is all the engine needs.
