Okay, you will not find a quality "riding mower" for 1500. Maybe consider a CWB mower. Check out the better products unit that advertises on this forum. Trimmers and edgers.... Use a commerical grade NOT homeowner grade. You can find them a dealer. Not Home Depot. I use redmax and Stilhl units for edgers, blowers, trimmers, polepruners ect. A bagger or mulching kit will be needed for your mower. Also be sure before you spend all of your wad on equipment what you can really afford when you start out. Don't forget insurance and you licenses and taxes you will need to pay. Transportation??? do you already have a truck and or trailer. Do you already have accounts. What about a computer, accountant, ect. You should have many of these other things nailed down before you begin to worry about equipment. Just some thoughts.

Guys that are in it for the long haul are licensed, insured, do their paperwork, pay their taxes, and are a ( legitimate) business. Do the business a favor, do the right thing, you will be glad you did.Originally posted by rubberbowsI bought this book a down to earth guide to the business, lawn care, second edition, people down here dont pay taxes , we just cut the grass,i know guys who did this for years with no paper work

Get your self legal man! Dont mess with the government, pay you taxes, get insurance, accountants, etc. As far as equipment, I started with and still use ocassionally a used Dixon z turn. I got the mower and a little trailer for $800, the trailer sits out back and is used as a back up....and camping lol. But you can start with used equipment if you know what to look for and what to stay away from. BUT GET LEGAL and STAY LEGAL first and foremost! Good luck.
