  • honda versus the others

In your experienced opinion, how do the commercial hondas fair to the rest of the market for walk behide mowers. The 36in walk behinds[HONDA] are gear driven instead of belt driven for the drives. The local shop said this is much better than the belts on the GRAVELY.I am not sure as i have never operated anything other than a 21in standard mower. Any feed back would really help alot.. PS,one more thing, sorry. The reason I am leaning towards honda or gravely is I have a local shop that services these brands and parts are easy to get.

I don't think Honda even produces anything bigger than a 21" anymore. Their larger WB's were difficult to steer. Their 21"s are too heavy to be practical as a trim mower.

Please take this post with a grain of salt, since I have no direct knowledge about Hondas. While Honda parts may be easy to get, I have heard that they are more expensive than most. I have a snapper 21" commercial that I use now. I am looking to get a new Exmark 32" WB hopefully before the end of the season. I have heard good things about the Toro 21" commercial. Some will say get the Blade Brake Clutch, others say avoid it like the plague.

I got fed up with belts breaking last season on my old WB so I bought a Honda 21" 536 QXE shaft drive, stops for nothing. I cut on average 25 hours per week wet and dry with no probs so far.

We are using our 21" Honda commercial for the 3rd year. They are a little heavy, but I'm a woman and I can handle it fine. We have been cutting a lot of tall, wet grass here lately, and the cut is awesome. The bagger is very easy to work with, and it always starts right up. We haven't had to replace any parts (except normal maintenence). When we bought it, we were advised by another lawn care comapny owner that Honda was the way to go. I am so glad I followed that advice. When it is time for a new one, I'll buy another.
