The trimmer starts fine but idles at probably 75% of full power. In other words, it idles way too high. Any thoughts on how to fit this?

Problems with Redmax trimmer

Check the exhaust resister (I think I spelled it right?
) Anyway, there is a screen or something in the exhaust. Where the exhaust comes out of the trimmer, you will see three slots, unscrew that and there is a screen. Take that out and scrub it off. Usually that is the cause for the bogging of the trimmer. It will only get worse as you use it.

I am not that familiar with the Red Max but have had a similar problem with other brands where the idle is high. First check your throtle cable and make sure it is not sticking or hung up. Second check to see if there is an adjustment for the idle. Usually these are adjusted so that the trimmer idles but the trimmer head doesn't spin. When adjusting this let the engine warm up and then set the idle speed so the trimmer head is turning then back it off until it just stops.Wayne
