  • Shindaiwa T231 trimmer

Any positive or negative feedback on the Shindaiwa T231 trimmer? Any recommendations for a different model and why?

If it will be your main trimmer, I'd get the 261 or the 270. If it is a back up, or spare, you'll love it. Just lacks the power of the big dogs. But great for everyday trimming, until you get to a very overgrown yard.

I don't have a 231 but I do have a T-230. I don't mow OVERGROWN yards but the ones I do I have no problems with power. If your doing overgrown stuff get a brushcutter. Don't wear out a weed eater on that stuff, its not worth it..

The 231 is the low emission version of the 230 that has to meet the EPA & CARB regulations, so it *might* be slightly less powerful.

The T231's are all I run. Has enough power to cut through most overgrown grass as long as you don't have over 1lb. line. I run the square Gator line with the core and it is 1lb. I noticed a little power drop compared to the lighter stuff I used to use, but not that much of a change. Good, well-built trimmer. Wouldn't use any other brand of trimmer. But that is just my opinon...listen to all opinions and then you will find your answer.

I think it's the best weed eater I have ever used.

231 is way weaker and heaver than the 230-which was a ledgend.

I have both the 231 and a new FS90. The loading mechanism for the Shindawa, I forgot what the heck they call it, is much better then Stihl but the FS90 is a really nice unit. If I could put the Shindawa head on the Stihl trimmer that is what I would take.
