  • Exmark or Country Clipper??

I'm new to the business as well as this forum. Thanks to all who have contributed here. Its a great source of info. I'm comparing 2 hydro walk behinds and would appreciate any opinions before I decide if or which to buy. Exmark Turf Tracer 48" with kaw F541v Kai 17 hp or Country Clipper Trek Hydro 48" with Kaw FH45iv 15 hp. Thanks in advance for your input.

I may be going to hell in a bucket, baby,
But at least I'm enjoying the ride.

I'm concerned about the deck spindles on the Exmark. Why no grease fittings?

Seems as well built as Exmark and has grease fittings on blade spindles whereas Exmark does not. Thats really the only visual differnc other than engine hp

Hey, why dont any of you guys use Ferris mowers? They are real big here in Indiana. Seems like all you see are Ferris and Scag around here. I looked at the Exmark but opted for Ferris mainly because of the service I would get from the Ferris dealer!!

We don't even have a ferris dealer with in 100miles. Exmarks have always served us well, we do have a scag ZTR though.

Its a way for Exmark to make more money when the "maintenance free" spindle breaks down. Personally, I perfer to maintain my own spindles with grease. The no grease spindles still get water inside when we hose off the decks daily, and that spells rust down the road when their grease wears thin.
My head guy now takes the spindles out once per month and greases the spindle to keep the rust at bay.

Since we still maintain the spindle of a "maintenance free" one, Exmark PLEASE put the grease fittings back in!!!!

I've been a loyal Exmark customer, but my next purchase may be another machine that lets me maintain my own spindles and in the long run, be less costly than "maintenance free".

I'd go with the Country Clipper, but I've got a great dealer close by. After building machines for other big names for many years, Shivvers Mfg started their own line a few years ago and is still establishing a dealer network. Same story with the Everride (Warfrior). I've got several dealers in my area, but that's not the case everywhere.
