Lucas 15W40 Magnum High TBN Truck Oil is the current factory prefered hydraulic oil in the Dixie Chopper drive system. It may also be used in the engine as well.
Besides Lucas or other past factory fill oils...what else can be used in a Dixie drive system? Will other quality 15W40's such as Chevron DELO400 work in the hydraulic system? I know Chevron Delo400 properties are very much similar to Lucas properties as far as an engine oil is concerned.
Chevron is one of the few oils out there that works well in newer Powerstroke diesels and CAT Acert diesel engines. This is because DELO400 is very resistant to foaming...a property which Dixie likes from the Lucas Oil.
I'm not saying I don't like Lucas oil...I just prefer to use Chevron oil in the diesel and I was thinking of flushing and filling the hydraulic system with DELO too to keep one oil on hand instead of two. I can get DELO400 anytime locally...while I have to order the Lucas. Thanks!
