How do you guys keep from mixing up cans when your running different makes and models of blowers, edgers, stick edgers, chain saws, etc.? I'm assuming these all have different gas to oil ratio's. Oh, if you couldn't guess...I'm new!

50:1 Stihl mix. Works in everything we have. From Husqvarna to Echo, even the 2cyl snow blowers. We buy it by the case. Each bottle makes 2.5 gallons. We get 50 bottles for $50.a.k.a.---> Erich

I keep 2-2gal cans for my 2cycle mix and 2-5gal cans for my reg gas. That has worked well but the more you mow, you will need to acomodate (more cans) because you dont want to be running to gas station 10 times a day. The more efficent the better.T.Anderson

Same here. One mix for all 2 cycle.
I usually only need to carry 2- 2 1/2 gallon cans. One for mix and one for regular gas.Wayne

I don't carry that much spare fuel. Every working day I usually stop and top off the two big walk-behinds (52 & 62 or sometimes one is left home and a 44 that is also a ride on electric spreader/sprayer is in the mix)I have on the trailer first thing in the morning when the air is cooler and the fuel is more dense vs the afternoon or evening.
Then I have two small round plastic 1 1/4 gallon cans (one with also 80-1 amsoil and one straight fuel)that are held in two Lesco spray can caddies in the bed of my pickup attached to the inside of a greedy board.
This way if I run out of 2 stroke mix I just just dump 2 oz. of Amsoil into the can marked two stroke and then transfer the fuel from the straight fuel can so I don't screw up and seize an engine.
If one of the wide area mowers run out b/4 the end of the day I just dump the the straight fuel can into the mower and that will give me about another 75 mins of run time (with a big twin Kohler)until I have to visit a fuel station."Maitreya"

jlyons,
We're similar to most others. Top off all the tanks prior to leaving out in the mornings, and carry a 5 gal. with regular gasoline and 2 x 2 1/2 gal. with Stihl 2 cycle mix for everthing else. Have never ran out of gas doing that, and that's mowing a 10 hour day. I prefer the 2 cycle gas/oil mix to be in the 2 1/2 gal. cans as opposed to a 5 gal., that way there is no possible way to confuse the mixed gas/oil with regular gasoline.

We keep a 2.5 gallon rectangular bottom can marked <b>"mixed gas"</b> as per NYS DOT regs.
When they crack down and start checking trucks we just tell 'em "Its a tool of trade" and that "We're not transporting it."
We also carry a fire extinguisher, safety kits, and a cooler with drinkable water. We had to make up our own MSDS sheets for the fuel however, no thanks to the State/County's help.
Just remeber to keep your plastic cans off those bedliners due to the possibility of static electricity!!!

I use diferent type cans for the mix and regular gas but I also mark the mixed can so it can be easily identified.
I only use the higher grade gas in the mix.Wayne
