  • Are jungle wheels safe to use on a 14 kawasaki?

I am 175lbs and do a lot of walking during the season...

I have a brand new 48" gear drive with a 14hp Kawasaki motor, and I have been told that this motor won't hold up with jungle wheels( by a dealer, who I never take word for word). I have also been told that the motor will run great on flat surfaces with Jungle Wheels. Now I'm deciding to decide after a topic in the Lawn Service Business Forum. If you were in that forum, or have knowledge of what will work best for me, please respond here (I will subscribe). Thanks!
Im goanna get rich, how about you?

I weight about 145 and have the same size/type of mower as you. I have a velke on the back of mine and I only have problems with it on hills. Flat ground is not a problem..

    Good Luck!

What would you reccommend, a velke or this jungle wheel? I weigh about 160 lbs.

You won't have a problem. You're not too fat.[]

We have used them on our 12.5hp Kawasaki's. We don't use them anymore due to choosing smaller commercial lawns. But when we use to do residentials, the guys would run the 2 wheeled Velke setups with absolutley no problems on 12.5hp Toros and 44" decks.

The engine would be the last thing to go, first would be stretched drive belts and more wear on the drive tires. On steep hills, you'll spin the drive tires before the belts slip or the engine bogs down. Just step off of it when you go up steep inclines.

          Yep.. What Scaper said!!

A velke is very easy to jump off and walk on the sides of the thing, and then hop back on when you get off the incline..

My ex parnter's 36" Exmark has a Kaw 12.5 HP, and We ran that with a 2 wheel sulky with no problems for 2 years. We both weigh 180lb, so with your lighter weight and a bigger engine you should be able to fly on it. The only times I had to jump off was on fairly steep inclines, and sometimes it wouldn't reverse with someone on it. You should be fine.

Ask your dealer before you mount it on your machine whether or not it will void your warranty. Just a precautionary measure to be on the safe side. I have a 17hp 48 with the velke and it mowed flat areas like a champ hills were pretty good any hp rating lower than that tho wouldn't get me up hills and I weigh 175.

No... Whoever designed this little box at the bottom of the screen that I just noticed on wed that says "similar threads" deserves that button... This one was at the top of that list and I never check the dates... I just assume the top one is fairly current. LOL

Now... If I had responded to a thread that "I" had started 3 years ago... Then I just need to just give up, and lay down in traffic.
