  • replacing wrong ATF with spec oil in hydro

Hi, I bought a ransomes T-16K trike ('83) with hydrostatic transmission.

The unit has a red fliud in hydro reserve tank - I think it's Automatic transmission fluid. The Ransomes is supposed to take Mobile DTE 26, or 30# non detergent motor oil.

I'd like to end up using the DTE 26, but don't want to waste that expense stuff also flushing out the ATF fliud. Does anyone know if motor oil and the Mobile DTE 26 are compatible, or can be mixed?

If it is mixable, I'd like to flush the hydo with the cheapest motor oil I can find, and then just drain and add the Mobile DTE 26. Some residual motor oil would remain, and I want to make sure that will not be a problem...

    Thanks for the advice.

Well - I do planning on going with good quality oil...

but I'm asking about is the flushing process to get the old ATF out. It's a question of what mixes with what so as to avoid having contamination problems while FLUSHING.
