Hi All I'm a small business, that does a lot of townhouses that have very small yards. I’m working on larger homes this year and need a cheap and dependable riding lawnmower. I’m looking at a 33in. snapper around $2000.I'm on a very tight budget .What kind of low-cost(dependable)rider would you all recommend?

Hey Walt
Welcome to the forum.I'm also on a tight budget and just starting out again this year myself.I think the best way to go would be a walk behind.Just get an older model in decent shape would run less than$1000 if you look around. If you don't wan't to walk so much buy a sulky or velke or whateverfo a couple hundred. This is really the way yo go imho.If your set on a rider I would opt for a larger deck/more powerful and rugged used say Ford,Cub Cadet,John Deered,Case etc. over a new 33"snapper.You should be able to get a good used lawn tractor for $2000.Try ebay.Just be careful.I've gotten some real good deals, but I've also been ripped off.Good luck man.wilddog

Try looking for a good used W/B mower. That should be your best bet in the price range you are looking for.Wayne

If you want a good mower that still will be running in 10 years for $2k buy a NEW 32" (eXmark 2 blade deck with the mulching kit) Toro walkbehind with a 10.5hp Briggs engine.
Then after you pay that one off buy a new 48" Toro (fixed eXmark deck)walkbehind and you will then be able to handle all the small lawns with ease.
You are going to have repair issues if you buy any type of homeowner equipment or used commercial equipment.
If you want ECS steering you can buy the same thing as the TORO known as the EXmark metro.
Both these machines with a good two wheel sulky are quite productive and have a top speed of 6.2 mph."Maitreya"

Hey waltbass,
Exmark does have some good financing options available too. You'd be surprised on how easy it is to get a good quality mower. The only thing I'd do would be to pay it off early so you don't have to worry about it in the winter time when it's not making you any money.
