Considering buying the Commercial Honda self propelled hydro 21" mower. Anyone out there with comments on it? Also, my second choice being a Toro commercial with a 6hp Kawasaki motor? Any owners of this one out there care to comment? Thanks

I have a 21'' Honda that runs great. I've used it commercially for two years and haven’t had any problems. Just basic repairs like filters, wheels, blades, etc. I've never used the 21'' Toro but I've heard wonderful things from those that have. By the way what’s the price difference between the two mowers? That would be a vital piece of information besides what dealer you buy from.

I wouldn't own another JX85. Just got rid of 10
Honda's are fair stay away from the consumer grade home depot sells though. The deck is to soft, and the front wheels splay during transport. I use the 216hrt's, which are quite expensive, but in my opinion are very durable.
We use them on a large Home Owner Association property that has us mowing 750 front lawns(diagional stripe of course) over a 2 day period. They average 8 hours runtime during the 1 day per week each one is used there.
I personally love Snappers, Try one out under a shedding white pine in the fall and I think you might like them too. One drawback, Parts unless you have a large volume seller nearby, with a huge inventoryof parts, stick with the commercial model. They actually made the JX85 for Deere the first year of its run. Some of the lines they sell can be real tough to get parts for 2-3 years down the road. Only buy a model that the dealer has sold for a while and sold a bunch of. One other suggestion, keep a photocopy of the parts manuals and part numbers sheets in your purchase file.
I had 2 oddball units that my dealer and I like to never found referenced on their parts CD.
BillTis easier to take someone with a good personality and teach them the skills they need, than it will be to take a skilled person and change their personality

Ive had several hondas for my house and and a couple in my business, rock solid machines but the cut quality sucks. Not bad when bagging, but terrible when mulching, leaves a mohawk or leaves clippings. I think your better off buying the cheap toros, and throwing them away when they get too costly to repair. The toros you can get at the dealers or at home depot cost about $360. Think about it, you can buy two or three of those for the same price as the honda commercials, they cut better, and in the end youll have spent less money. My 2 Cents.
