  • Kubota ZD-21 PRO

I have a relatively new ZD Pro. I have owned Kubotas for 22 years but this machine is testing my patience. After 150 hours it has gone through 2 blade spindles and the transmission is leaking. Love the machine....hate the machine!!!
I am surprised that Kubota does not offer spindle assemblies for sale. I wanted to purchase an assembly but was told you have to buy all of the parts and then assemble it. Well guys...we all know that will cost you twice as much that way.
    Anyone else having any problems!!!!!!!!!!
I still love my other Kubotas...this one is on restriction!!!

      Kubota ZD-28 Pro

      Kubota ZD 28 Pro
I Purchased a ZD 28 Pro last 5/19/2003 with a 60" Pro-Deck. I love the cut and efficiency. Its my first ZTR.I use to take 5 to 8 hours to cut my lot depending on how high I let the grass grow (pensacola bahia grass tuff as H***). Now I can cut much faster and better than before in 2 hours or less. Since its fairly new I have not noticed any oil leaks or mechanical problems but I will pay close attention especially to the spindles. The delivery guy suggested that I mow lawn for extra $$$ because the Kubota dealer cannot keep them in stock they sold 18 ZD pro mowers last month alone to Lawn Maintenance Company. I will keep monitoring it and report any problems.

        ZD21 w/60" Pro deck

I purchased a ZD21 with the new 60" Pro deck in May of 2003. I have been extremely please with the quality of cut I get with the machine. However, I also had a spindle bearing go out (within the first 100 hrs). I was a little upset to say the least, and it didn't help when my dealer told me they were on back order. My dealer took an entire spindle assembly off of a new machine on his showroom floor to keep me running. He told me that the spindle assembly has a lower and top bearing with only one grease zerk going to the lower bearing. If you don't grease the assembly until grease overflows through the blowouts you may not be getting enough grease to the top bearing. I have done this at least once every ten hours, and have had no problems with mine since.

bought a zd18 with a 54" deck in May hate the cut you have to double cut all most all the time trying to workl trade with dealer for a ZD28 -60 Pro deck he keeps saying they do not order them this way and a 21 will do justy fine . My way of thinking is too many horse better than not enough hope like he%% the pro deck will make a diffrence do not have any power problems with the 18 just the deck and from what I have been told is the pro deck is deeper and that will make the difference

            ZD 28/60 cut

I asked my dealer about that and he said he could get one that way but have never sold one like that. He said the 21 has plenty of power for the 60 inch cut. We have found that to be true. The big difference is the standard deck vs. the pro deck. We hated the standard and sold it in less than a year and bought a ZD pro..which we love. I am considering buying another one to replace our Great Dane Chariot. The ZD is fantastic on slopes too!!!

              kubota zd 28/60 pro

picked up my new zd28/60 pro deck I unloaded the ZD 18 -54 stamped deck at the dealer (GOOD RIDIANCE ) FOR SURE NOT A MOWER FOR COMMERICAL USE) I would have never thougth that they could be such a difference in mowers my wife sumed it up with only 4 words ( NOW THAT'S A MOWER )!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is ausome actual cuts Bahia and leaves no shotters behind and will actual keep up with my scag saber tootrh tiger something which the other Kubota would not do so now with my wife happy I,m happy too it cuts this good and the speed gear increaser is not on the mower yet can not wait til I get that on the mower so if you are thinking about a ZD go a head and get a ZD28 it is worth the extra money better too many horses than not enough. Good DAY

The ZD18 has one of the lowest blade tip speeds. Install the high speed gear kit and I believe you will be happy with the results - around a $60.00 investment if you install.
