  • Cleaning 2 cycle equipment

Usually I clean up the string trimmers, blowers etc. by blowing them of with air from the air compressor. This works okay but they still need something stronger. I am not sure what to use to clean up some of the oil and dirt that builds up on the engine and carb areas. I though I would ask what everyone found to work best. I don't want to put something that may be too harsh on these areas that might damage some of the seals, plastic or fuel lines. Any suggestions or procedures you use would be real helpful.

    Hello Maddog:

I would POP those Greasy areas with Straight Rinse Water with my Pressure Washer!

If you don't have one, just do it at the Car Wash, but Not Often. Then when Finished Crank that Piece of Equipment up & run it for a Few Minutes. This will Help remove the Excess water in the Wrong Areas.

Always stay away from Electric, Air Filter & Exhaust Areas!

Yes, We mainly Blew them off with the Air Hose, Until it had Build Up!

Head on down to Home Depot, and grab a gallon of Simple Green. They have them for like 8 bucks or so, which is a genuine deal. Get a good plastic scrub brush too. Put some Simple Green into an old spray bottle, and use it full strength. It's amazing how good that stuff works. A little brushing where needed, then a rinse with a garden hose.

buy a case of foaming degreaser one a month. One of my guys talked a a manager into 25% off a case purchase. Parade all your rigs fully loaded to the car wash. Get $40 worth of quarters and send 2 guys around foaming everything up. (dont spray truck bodies) Than start moving the rigs through. Have another 2 guys outside the bay taking the equipment off to the side and firing it up. Leave your truck motors running while spraying the motors and dont spray distributer caps or ignition boxes.
