I am looking to use my Exmark lazer Z to pull a Trac Vac unit Exmark has a hitch that it claims is rated at 80 Lbs of pulling capacity. Any one have any experence with pulling more than 80 lbs on an Exmark they claim it will damage hydrostatic drive.

You should be able to pull much more than 80 lbs. Just watch the hydraulic peaks which over time can damage the system. Operator error, not weight, is the main cause of hydraulic damage w/towing.

Oconn - The maximum drawbar pull rating of 80 pounds is not it's towing capacity. What the rating is saying is that you could take an 80 pound stack of cinder blocks, tie a rope around them and pull them without damaging the machine. If the unit is on wheels, that's different.

This info was given to me by an Exmark rep. whom I asked the same question.

I don't know why they listed the capacity that way, kinda confusing.
