deck liner?

I was considering spraying the underside of my 36" deck with one of the truck bed liner paints available. Possibly even have it done by Rhino. Having it in one of our trucks, I know its very durable;whether it will hold up in that environment remains to be seen. I was thinking it would release the sticking grass easier if using a pressure washer or garden hose.It would probably be more difficult to scrape, due to the slight texture of the surface. A benefit would be a more quiet running deck. I've had good results with Pam, Silicone(distressed cans purchased for next to nothing at a surplus store), WD40 and the like. Just looking for an easier solution. I have some other positives and negatives of this idea in my mind but wondered what others think. Have any of you tried it, and what were the results? Thanks!

I don't know if I'd go and do that. I just keep my deck clean and paint the spots that have been chiped or have small rust spots. Works fine for me. It sounds like a GREAT idea to use some of those products on your deck, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to do it. I'd try it first on a push mower, then if it works well, do it on your other mower. Just my 2cents..

Bed liner paint will make grass stick worse & be harder to scrape.

WD40, Mo Deck & all the other sprays are garbage.

This stuff works.

RHINO LINER

There was a fello across from my shop who started doing this back about 6-7 years ago when i believe it first came out. My roofing buddy had it applied to all his pickups and swore by it. This must be very lucritive because that fello sprayed trucks down in Palm beach county 8 hours a day and when he moved he claimed he had made enough in that first year to buy a piece of property and build his own brand new building on it. I forgot about him untill reading your post and now wonder how he`s doing. Regardless i think you may have struck upon a great idea because i see no reason that durable stuff wouldnt protect the deck very well. I hope you have it done it sounds like a brilliant idea to me! Keep us informed on how it works for you and I was wondering if you got a price on how much they charge for a lawnmower deck$.SINCERELY,KD

Mr. Transman, obviously you did not pay heed to Jack D.'s posting which clearly states Rhino & other similar types of lining will cause more problems than they will solve.

Brian K10 is right.

I have used slip plate in the past and it wears off in a couple days. I love slip plate, but for the underside of a deck, it is just not durable enough to last any time at all.

Thank you all for the responses. I think the only way I'd try it would be on an old spare to see what happens. I guess I'll forget this idea. Slip Plate sounds like a good product. Have any of you used it on your plow blades? Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see that listed on their site. I'll check it out again. And thanks once more for the opinions!

I had Rhino liner in my last truck. No matter how much I tried to be careful, from time to time it had cuts and pieces fall off the bed. I've decided the best time to get a spray on liner is right before you sell the vehicle and after you've abused the stock bed paint job. I can't see it lasting on a mower deck.

Thanks for the reply. My only experience with it was on a new bed that never sees any real hauling. the wifes grocery getter Lightning. Theres been no peeling of it on her truck.

Slip plate is a great product, but will wear off after one days mowing, if not sooner.
