  • primer bulb problem

    Hello,

I recently bought a Sears Craftsman push mower at a garage sale, got it home and started mowing with it. At first it started, then it died shortly after I pushed it just a short distance. Then I noticed gas spraying out onto the deck. After a good once-over I found out that the rubber primer bulb had a tear in it on the underneath side, about 1/4 inch long. I tried to use (don't laugh, contact cement on it to try to stretch the rubber flat and tight to stop gas leakage--didn't work). Is there an easy fix for this? It is kind of a shame because I don't think there is anything else wrong with it and it's only 9 years old and seems in very good shape otherwise. Thank you.

I'm new to the board anfd dpnt want to step on the pros toes here, but I do see a lot of craftsman equipment, mainly with small problems like this.

If it is the carb mounted primer, there is a cicular ring holding the primer buld in-place and it can be removed easily and its APX $4 at a good mower shop. the other that is in the cover/shroud is also about the same but can be bought as a unit with the plastic housing APX $5-$7

    Hope it helps

why dont you just take a lighter and melt the rubber back together?
