  • Lake Dredging Operations

We are draining this lake down now and will dredge-out the shoreline to beautify the expensive property. Man, the new Terex heavy earth moving equipment I purchased will make me money from day one.

Renovates the shoreline and improves the lakes usefulness and appearance. Some of the property owners have already approached me about constructing a sitting area near the lake.

Are you able to keep a truck by you as you go, on most of it? It looks like some of it's open and some obstructed. There appears to be a path along the top edge to give that access. Are you draining it completely of just enough to do your thing at the shoreline.

Draining the lake enough to fix what needs fixing. Yeah, decent access in most area of the shoreline, and no large site obstacles. Hope the weather cooperates and we don't hit a stretch of rain. The site has some large tree stumps that we will remove and dispose of. The digging force of the Terex will rip the tree stumps out of the ground and load on dump truck.

Sodbuster, just a heads up, in most states the EPA requires you to have an engineer look at the site. My uncle has been doing that type of work for years. Dredging the shoreline as you stated is okay but dredging the bottom may be a better fix. It's a tough call without an experienced engineer to check it out. You may want to try and up-sell that to the condo association.

In most states, the EPA also requires you to test the sediment's chemical composition before removing it because many times it can be formed by water and junk run-off from parking lots or who knows what. They may find it to be contaminated.

What did they determine when you had those tests run after contacting your states EPA?

Keep us posted, that's going to be a big job with a LOT of liability involved.

I was to take delivery of the Terex excavator today. Kubota called and offered a deal I could not refuse. I pick it up Thursday at the macon county line. Brand new $39,750 with bucket, plus tax. This excavator is bad to the bone. Model KX161-3 Kubota diesel powered.

I'm going to install an after market hydraulic thumb to the bucket

For loading and material handling tasks
Pinches material between the thumb and bucket

Can be curled independent of the bucket, up to 130 degrees

                              Retracts for normal excavation

                              High strength steel throughout
                              Hardened bushings

Direct link style uses a common main pin for bucket and thumb
Use with quick coupler bucket set
