  • Newbie here/Sandstone/Saplings/top soil

    Hi everyone...
I am a newbie here and I am wanting to possibly market some products from my farm to the local neighborhood.
    1. I have access to all sizes and shapes of sandstones on my property, there use to be a quarry on my place about a hundred years ago and I was wondering if there is a market for sandstone....I could even cut them and make decorative flower planters out of some of them,by chieseling a flower box in the top of them.
    2. I have lots of hardwoods on my property and I have lots of saplings in the woods IE:Maple/Oak/Walnut/Dogwoods.
3.I have lots of black top soil,it would need filtered to get the sticks and leaves out of it,any ideas on how to do this? Would it be worth my time ?

    Thanks in advance !!!

You might get some of that sandstone off but i dont think theres a huge market for it. the planter idea you may sell in small doses.

The tree gig your thinkin of wont work.

    Neither will the soil.

      Thanks for the quick reply,
How is the market up at Columbus ??? I am about a 2 1/2 drive from there.
Do you have a web site ? How is the firewood market up there ?
What kind of a niche market is out there, how about resale of trees and mulch, any good suppliers of either ?
I have a JD 4400 and 4 in 1 bucket and trailers. I have a 24" auger,I thought about selling trees and digging holes to plant them,I even thought about a stump grinder.I am not afraid of work,I just want to get something on the side going alongside of my full time job. I work full time and still get 14 days a month off. I even thought about firing up the up the pressure washer,I have a 4000 psi gun driven by a 13 hp Honda.
I have thought about doing Christmas lights/gutters...
I have thought about selling fence supplies/tress/shrubs/mulch...
Whats a good direction to go ?

      Thanks again
