I'm sold out of Mondo. I have a new crop of Mondo which will be available in Aug. 05, but I will need it all for my installs. I've installed a tremendous amount of ground covers this year and it's only May.

one of my 97's and a 99 Isuzu. That's some old stuff, but still nice.

                Nice red maples too!

Field grown Red Maples. The 2 greenhouses in the upper pasture are my new propagation mist/fog structures. They are functioning like clockwork.

                      Questions

Just looking for insight from other portions of the country.
Those appear to be seedling Acer rubrum. At what point does your grower prune off one of the 2 leaders so your product has a clean dominant trunk?
Does he find he is generating more root growth on a young tree leaving the extra trunk on. How long does it take in your area to heal the resulting pruning wound.
                      Thanks for any insight.

You need a better understanding of the characteristics of Maple trees.

Trident maples are multi-trunk. The seedlings in the containers are Autum Blaze and October Glory which require pruning to create a singular dominate central leader.

I have a huge crop of very small maple seedings in 1 gal. containers from last summers propagation that are now ready for pruning. I'll get you some more pics. No prob.

The field stock also appear to be red maples. Will those be pruned back to a single leader or left to grow wild? I typically cut back earlier to force more leaders to create a multi-stem red maple. Are there any advantages to a double leader?
