  • Guarantees on plants

Just curious to see how any of you handle guarantees associated with new landscape installs. I am getting ready to do a couple of installs. However, the client does not wish to spend the extra money for irrigation system. They say they'll water the plants themselves. Just don't know how I feel about guaranteeing something that is dependent on the work ethic of the homeowner as to whether or not they feel like watering their plants. Looking forward to the replies.

Most of the super stores *cough* wallmart, home depot *cough* offer up 1 year plant guarentees with purchase. Save them reciepts.

        Mike

I wish water wasn't an issue with my climate. We are either too little or too much. I also wish I had your hard pan soil. Last summer I was in Atlanta Ga. and couldn't help to notice how their soil must be very good. Even the road sides has lush green grass plus nice looking Trees and weeds

        Clip King

I insist on Irrigation in order to offer a guarantee. But Like Mike said 3 gallon plants are expensive so I replace them in most cases at no charge. The Good Will is better than fighting with the customer about how it was their fault, even when it is.

Thats cool,, i get blamed for everything else!

Most of the time soil doesnt become a concern up here,,, however there is a broad area along the scioto that holds about 4" of soil than shale. Some areas dont even have 4" ,,, a few sites i know of fizz out about june for this reason. Some of them only have an inch of shale than go straight clay,, others shale as far as you care to dig.

Than ive got other sites that are pure rock at about 6",, 50% #2s and 50% soil. Its not always a walk in the park but i feel appreciation for my soil conditions after hearing about others.

Sometimes you pop in a shovel and its just sweet all day long.

But one things for sure,,, you want clay,,, we got it.

No more Gift Baskets either! Guess who from Ohio ruined the free gift basket deal for everybody else?

Erich don't even get a gift basket, at least he got a Canadian Hour Meter...

That got me to thinking, is there only 40 minutes in a Canadian hour?

You better hope Woody doesn't see this?

Even if Woody did it, which he didn't you should still stick up for a fellow brother from your Home State.

Gee Woody is like your Home Boy, man I feel for Woody! After this he might be better off.

I'll be his home boy since he's minus one? Does Erich know about this. Just forget it, I'll PM him about this & we get it straightened out ASAP!

No Home Boy, No Gift Basket for You!!!!!

Gift baskets do NOT start until I send out the first one. This was a personal promise from many moons ago that I failed to pull through on because I was being a lazy scaper. Having said that, LATELY, I have been much more focused on the tasks at hand! My 'To-Do' list that reached 12,503 items, is slowly shrinking down as I cross off 8-27 chores from the list daily.

Focus Scaper-S2k, focus on the task at hand.

Luckily, #3877 is the Gift Basket and I am currently at #3870. Going by previous daily achievments, #3877 will be crossed off the list on Saturday, somewhere between 3:30 and 4:30pm. That would be April 30, 2005. I must get it done, the forum is at risk of self imploding with this Gift Basket Fiasco.

After the first basket is recieved, hold on tight, because all that deserve a gift basket will be put on GrassMasters list, from most important to least important. It will then be up to him to keep up with the supply and demand.
                        a.k.a.---> Erich
