  • First Flagstone Patio...any suggestons?

A client wants to continue an existing flagstone patio and walkway. It is all mortared in. My question: Do I need to pour a concrete slab to put the flagstone on then fill in the gaps with a mortar OR can I use a stone dust as a base, then mortar the cracks? Any suggestions/tip would be appreciated.

Also, what kind of price range should I be looking at here for a 3’x30’ft walkway and 200sq ft. patio?

4" concrete slab, then mortar the stone to the slab.

    $2700 for the walkway
    $6000 for the patio

Prices include all labor and materials in my area.
Remember to add in debris disposal for the spoils from your 6" minimum excavation...about 5-6 tons
