  • Landscape Software

Just wondering if anybody uses a software program for landscape designing and growth. Also which program is easier to use and has more designing. We are seeing software made by Punch and Broderbund in the local stores. Thanks for any info.

Run away from that Punch stuff.....I picked it up last year at Sam's club for $50 just to practice on my own house and just couldn't get it to do anything I wanted. It isn't very user friendly and while it does look like it can do a lot of stuff, the learning curve is too high (due to the cluttered interface) that it will take a long time to get the results they print on the box. I am computer literate and have been using 3D Cad, solid & surface modeling engineering design and drafting software for over 10 years and couldn't get anywhere with it.

Also, I upgraded my PC last December (needed a rig powerful enough to run Doom 3 and Half Life 2). Anyway, I reinstalled the software to give it another try and now the software runs so fast and the sketching and layout tools have such a high scroll speed that it is uncontrollable on my 3.4 Ghz Pent 4 PC. I now use the CD as a beer coaster.

With my sales proceeds this year, I am going to invest the $1200 in Pro Landscape by Drafix (unless anyone else has other recommendations).

    Good luck & Best Regards,

    Jason

Pro Landscape is a lower end software, try looking at eagle point land cad or garden graghic. I use eagle point and it works great but our subcontracting designers use garden graphics and there stuff is top notch.

I've seen the Earth Scapes in the green industry magazines. I'll check them out.

        Thanks,
