  • Thorny Shrub Removal

Can anyone share how they cut back shrub roses and haul to the curb without getting shredded to pieces. They are about 4 feet high and are tangled up like over grown Forsythia.
    Thanks in advance!

I cleaned some recently that I bagged and left at the curb, I used some old big barbecue tongs to pickup the real thorny pieces and put in the bag. It saved me from getting stuck with thorns.

I recently had to remove some rose bushes. My wife drives a Land Rover Discovery with a huge Warn winch on the front. Wrap the cable around and push the button........ Voila, no more rose bush. Heavy gloves to get it to the burn pile.

Get some HEAVY Neoprene-Coated Gloves. They are shinny look like plastic. Can get almost anywhere. Worked best for me. They usually have slightly bent formed fingers. These work.

Yeah, your first thing should be to get some heavy duty gloves that will prevent the thorns from penetrating them. You could use a large rake or soemthign to pull them to wherever they are going. Usually thorny bushes will stick together so if you grab one with a rake or your gloves, the others will stay attached and you can pull them all to the curb at one time or so.
