  • An Intresting "Landscaping" Job.

Here's an intresting job. Concrete pool needs filled in. All sidewalks must go.

I have already finished this job. But I took a decent amount of photos and thought you guys might want to give it a go on estimating. I was able to do 95% of this job by myself actually.

Here's what you know. Nice old lady. Lives next to 6 of your other old lady clients.

There is NO WAY to get a skid steer into her back yard from the street, impossible. But the nice neighbor will allow you to drive over her lawn to get into a creek behind her house. You can drive up the creek bank into the pool ladies backyard. But you won't be able to haul dirt or gravel back and forth with a 6000lb skid steer like that.

Backyard: Walking around. See that dark/light line on the patio? She says you can cut a line right there and keep that portion towards the house. Everything else around the pool needs to go.

Side: You see the steps into the shallow side. Looks like about 4' deep, 13' wide, 12' long. Deep side looks about 8' deep, 13' wide, 10' long. Give or take.

Back corner: "Please don't hurt my tree". The formed block wall needs to go so you can slope the yard. Rock wall on the right can stay.

Back: You ask your foreman to stay out of the photo! he doesn't listen. Can this yard be sloped back to here? You are standing at the fence line.....right in front of the creek bank.

Back corner: What a mess, pool is being drained. That wall also must go so you can slope the lawn properly.

    Any takers?

Here's more info you find out:

She called 1 company. They could not do the job because there is no access to get soil back there. You want the job because things are slow anyway.

She won't mind you throwing all the concrete into the pool as long as you break it up good. You say under your breath..."Yup, no kidding!".

She doesn't want sod, just seed and straw.

You have a large skid steer with auxillary hydros, and you have a small skid steer without them.

You will need to cut a hole in the bottom of the pool to make sure it won't hold water. You need to cut the patio line as well.

The concrete pool is thick and it has some rebar.

How are you gonna do this job?

    Pricing?

How long do you think it will take?

Both sides of the house have a fence. One side can't be used because there is an air conditioner and a neighbors fence 2' away.

The other side has 3 concrete steps with a poured concrete ramp right next to it. The ramp is about 30" wide or so. Then the other neighbors fence along side that.

Do you have one of these?

Homer: It's called a "lawnmower". I invented it. Want one?

Nope, I don't have one of those.

But I was able to get the materials in the back yard pretty easy.

I have progress pictures of this job. I was just curious if anyone wanted to take a hand at throwing out a bid, and telling how they would have attacked this job.

Some jackhammers and big sledgehammers would make the pool disappear pretty quick and everything removed goes into the hole.....

Then just bring in the dirt with a garden tractor and slim trailer filling the hole until its filled....

                    More likely

I guess if you had access from the back you could level off the back yard because it almost looks stepped and use that dirt to help fill the hole or take some out of the stream bed and toss it in as fill saving some of the existing topsoil for the top....

                    Resead the yard...

I`m assuming you dont have a Chinook helicopter in your arsenal of equiptment...

                    15 grand...

3 days total or 2 hours if you have mastermower in charge of the job:laughing:

Hey BTW i thought there was a 3 picture limit per post... How did you fit 5?????

Are you really G.M or forum administration doing side work??????

Also you could demolish the house and push it into the hole solving all the problems.....

                    T-puppyCAT...
GOD BLESS AMERICA (MY HOME SWEET HOME ) !!!!!

Yes, yes yes.....I got the topsoil blown in.

As mentioned early, there was no way to transport the materials into the back yard unless a very small wheelbarrow was used. And even then, it would have been very difficult access.

I will post photos of the job.
