OK I measured today and as it runs out half the house doesn't need it. This is a beach house with an attached 3 car garage/deck on the one side and a square 4-story house on the other. the garage side has a flsh roof so the water drains out through drians in the deck or something.

Anyway, I measured 85' at a distance of 28". With the turns and different things I'll need 100' of timber. Thats 13 6X6X8'. Cost is around $260 plus hardware and gravel. (1CY #57 should do it)

      Rocks for 180 sf are $820 w/delivery. (3 pallets @ $240 each)

That leaves labor/landscape fabric and removing the dirt. I've calculated right at 4CY on the dirt. I have an area I can probably dump this amount at the site. What I don't know is time. I've got no clue. (and thats not a good thing)

So, all you expert landscapers out there- How long should it take to dig a 10" wide X 10" deep trench 100' long, remove 2" dirt in a 2'X85' path, dump all the dirt about 50 yars away, install the gravel/timbers, and put in the rocks?

Its a $4300.00-$4500.00 job with a walk away of $4000.00 . Is that the # you are looking for?

Thats what Id ask for it anyhow.

Onsite offsite .... everything,,, done right ,,, roughly 42-48 man hrs using a 2 man crew.

OK Got the job today. Customer declined the 6X6s and went with 4X4s. His rational is if he wants to replace one in the future he'd rather pop out a 4x4 than a 6x6. Understandable, but I think real reason is the price tag hit him a little hard.

Also...instead we're going to use galvanized brackets to lock the timbers together.

Will it last as long as Seascape's idea? Not even close. Will it look nice for the next 5-10 years? Hmmm probably.

I'm using ground contact rated 4x4s so who knows.

Anyway, since we're only removing about a yard of dirt with this method I figure I can have the digging, fabric, and timbers all done in 1 day or less. (one guy diggin, one guy leveling/cutting boards- that would be ME) I've never moved that mush riverstone before but I put in 5 man hours for it. (3 yards)

Long story short- Materials $1100 Labor $1000 Total $2100

$1100 ain't bad for a day's work with my overhead.

Wow, so many things wrong with that post.

OK Second paragraph after "Also..." instead of digging the trench using gravel we'll be using brackets to lock the timbers together.

Also, we're making $1000 on the job, not $1100. My helper gets about $150 of that.
