  • Dirt/Dust in Landscape Rock

I recently completed replacing lawn with Palm Springs Gold landscape rock on a large lawn. I bought the rock from reputable dealer but it now appears that it contained a lot of dirt/dust.
Being new at this particular landscaping job, I did not supervise my employees closely and the customer is complaining about excessive dirt/dust just below the first layer of rock. He has found 60-70 areas were there are 2-3" mounds of hard dirt just under the first layer of rock. We had a hard rain and the dust/dirt appears to have accumulated in these areas.

Should I have screened the rock to remove the dirt/dust or washed it to remove the dirt/dust before I placed it on the plastic?

Should my supplier have removed this dust/dirt before he delivered it to me?

Also, what do you suggest I do now?

    Thanks,
    Jim

If its an ornamental rock than it should have came "washed". Only way id buy it any how. I dont do much rock work and if i do its w/ 57s 4s or crushed. None of which justify the cost of washing. Id pray for rain or go in w/ a pressure washer and try to work some of it down. One thing about it,,,, now you know. School of hard knocks.
