striping kits

hello everone, i'm new to this site and to the lawn care business, i bought a used exmark turf tracer 52" this year to get started on my business. As i said i'm new and had a hard time trying to get my lawn to strip, so instead of spending the $249.00 for the striping bar i went to my local (rural king) and bought a semi mud flap and mounted it 3" below the deck it worked great and i only spent $25.00. I thought it was cool and cheap. Just wanted to see if anyone has any other cool ideas that they would like to share with me and everyone else.

I dont have stripping kits on any of my mowers (standers and exmarks ) and to get the stripes to show up i just double cut the same directions each time, after about 2 weeks you'll have dark stripes in both directions, just make sure your mower is in line with the stripes from last cutting

maybe i misunderstood you , but are you saying you double cut just to get stripes? that is alot of $$$ wasted if so. my 48" tthp does fine on one cut and the next week i switch directions .
