  • Are politics negatively affecting the market

My market has sharply stopped buying during the last two-three weeks. Seems like everyone is holding their breath untill the election because customers have stopped calling. Last three years this was a busy time of year and I expect a quick exhale and rebound next week if the election goes smooth with a decisive result. Is this a general notion across the country or just a micro issue?

Personally, this election is the biggest political event experienced so far and I'm anxious as well.

Thanks Phil! That political stuff is mesmorizing me because it's a constant bombardment of stats and boring concepts. Blah blah blah = baseball and politics because I've had way too much. I feel guilty about this and expecially baseball but that yankees/sox alcs consumed four hours a game average.

Next Wednesday is slow to get here but bless it when it does.

My business is about the same. However I have noticed that the lawns with the John Kerry signs are far and way more weedy and run-down than the Bush lawns. The Kerry houses generally have that "I could care less" look.

Here in Texas, if you are a democrat, you better look, sound, and act like a republican -- otherwise you are toast. Come to think of it...that's what Kerry's doing as well. Hopefully all this madness will end soon. God bless George Bush and every sane, level-headed, pro-taxcut American!

Tom, I havent seen any kerry (scarry) signs in lawns here in Alabama. I can only imagine one would look like this:

** not so much wide as is long
** obviously one with weeds in it, very much neglected with a homeowner who knows nothing of the obvious most fundemental lawn care procedures.
** would not be willing to send a troop of professionals onto it to correct the problem.(instead would consult with a conferance of his neighbors for a year and still do nothing about it).
** would probably have at least one pair of flip-flops by the front door.
** home owner is probably a well educated idiot.

Before 8/13/04 Hurricane Charley business was good. However after all the storms most of my part of Fla. still looks like a war zone. It gets better each day but it will take years to rebuild. Our economy is booming for the local established Business people. However I see a lot of Skids steers on the side of the road from out state with signs on them "For Hire". Many of the Storm chasers have moved on to greener pastures. We are doing landscaping now. but most of our customer are waiting until after roofs and walls have been repaired. We already have them under contract for an undecided install date. It looks like a stead flow of business for the next 18 months to two years. BTW there is winter work in Florida "by the Hour". People here are very leary of out state contractors after all the price gouging.

I’ve haven’t seen any Kerry signs like that. However, I did see a Bush lawn care company working on a yard in an upscale neighborhood. It was interesting to watch them work.

The owner, I think his name was dubya, seemed to be taking orders from the second in charge.

I could overhear dubya telling blatant lies to the homeowner about what needed done, and the strange thing is the homeowner believed him.

There was a large hornet’s nest about 600 yards from the home, seemed not to be bothering anyone. However, dubya sent a bunch of young workers in to clear it out. I felt bad for them, especially since it appeared they had to treat their wounds themselves because they didn’t have any medical insurance.

I found myself wondering how someone like dubya could come to own a business. My question was answered when I saw his Daddy pull up in a limo to take him to lunch. With an influential Dad and customers who believe anything, I guess anyone can be boss.

Apogee, .... word to the wise brother; You might ought to get them eyes checked again at the local Wal-Mart. That hornets nest is about 595 yards closer to you than you actually perceive.

                  I take that back.

You need to visit you're neurologist because you are obviously not feeling the hornets stinging you in your a$$ (A-hem, epidermis......pardon me; please) and didnt feel them on 9/11/01. I sat there that day initially thinking that a country would come together, but an easy five min. later remebering that " nahhh, there are to many democrats and non brain carriers in America for that to ever last for more than two weeks" you are proof that my five minute analysis came true. Educate yourself...........Trust that the U.S. gov. is doing what is neccesary to protect you (and me & family) from future attacks. Wake up, this is not Vietnam. Our country as a whole is at stake here. Put the bong down and drink a cup of coffee.

I pray to God for us.
