  • bluebird aerator question

anybody ever use these?? i've been seeing them used on ebay. thinking of getting one for next spring to get some warm season aerations in to make some extra money. i figure i could get a used one for around 600 or 700 bucks, are they worth a damn?

they are good machines. i think the real question is can you make your money back in a timely matter and that sounds cheap so are they worthless junk. if they are good quality i say go for it

I would rather have the Billy Goat with the Honda. But I haven't found a used one. Hey anyone who reads this & wants to sell... email me.

Had a Lesco 26" aerator with a 5 hp honda but got rid of it because I thought I had another better machine coming. Damn! Wish I had it back.

If you are only occationally using an aerator then I wouldn't suggest spending the money on it. Aerator's can be rented from places like Home Depot for just the occational use. But if you are planning on purchasing one, you might consider renting one of them first and take it for a test drive before you sink the cash into it.

I bought one of those used Bluebirds on eBay for $575 + freight. Needs a new paint job but it works great. The Honda engine starts in 1-2 pulls and it will easily pay for itself this season. Starting next spring will be all profit and it is extremely convenient to have the machine on hand when a customer calls instead of always having to hit the rental yards and hope they have one when you need it. Got mine from a guy called "Nitetrader" - very good & reputable seller.

I bought a Bluebird on EBAY with the 4 hp Honda engine for $630. It's a great running piece of equipment, but it will definitely work you. There's gotta be an easier way. Overall I am very pleased with the aerator, though. Renting an aerator here costs $45 for 4 hours, $85 for the day. Owning one means that you can respond quicker to customers needs and not have to have the jobs fit on the rental schedule. Most of the yards in my area can be done in less than an hour and pay 45 to 65 dollars.

I won Some equipment at a seminar. A Ryan IV aerator with Honda engine the spoons still have paint on them and it has been garage kept. I also have a Ryan Mataway 11 Hp Kohler In the same condition, paint still on the blades. Both are for sale. It has been a few years since I won these items and they have been used only once of twice. I would like to have the storage space.

BTW Jack D-elusional I won these because I knew the Name of The Grass I Cut. Something about Horticulture Knowledge and a stand up Spelling Bee type contest.
