  • Snapper Problem

Don't know exactly what is going on, but in the past week my Snapper 21" has been leaving a row of longer grass (about 1 inch wide) after I cut an area. It's cut but seems to work its way to the top after awhile. I've overlapped more and changed to a new blade, after sharpening the old one didn't change it. It seems to be the worst in tall heavy St. Aug.

is it leaving the strip at the edge of the deck or down the middle?

I noticed the same problem when I first got my snapper(used)--the deck was bent and the engine didn't sit level. took off engine and got a sledgehammer, now it mows level but I did fiind that one must take a huge overlap because the rolled lip of the deck. it makes the deck actually an 18-inch cut.

I'd say measure the blade-to-ground height at the sides of the deck to make sure.

also grass just gets funny this time of year

I have a similar problem with my snapper alumnimun deck. The single height adjuster bar goes around the tranny. When it bends down it is lower than the deck. So it pulls the grass up in a 2 inch row. But mine has been cut so once the grass settles down it has a nice cut.

Do you have the hi-vac? If so how do you like it?

I don't know if I helped at all, that is what my snapper does.
