  • Customers, Greeting Cards, Poinsettia's & More Money?

    Hello Everybody:

How many of you are planning on doing something special for your customers for Christmas?

My first few years we sent out "Happy Holidays" Cards which worked out pretty well, yes we sent out Hall Mark Greeting Cards... All were hand written & everyone of them had something different in them. Quite a few of my customers knew each other & they would notice that it wasn't just a quick copy with the same thing in them. We made each one special & unique to that customer!

By my 3rd year when I had good Money coming in, I had my wife deliver Poinsettia's to all our regular customers, some of them got 2 & they got a card by mail a later on.

Some of them depending on how much money I made from them got a card only again it depended on how much work I did for them?

I can tell you this, I always got back far more than what I sent out! I would get a few nice little bonus's & a few extra jobs out of it.

They were all surprised & not used to getting anything from their Lawn Service Company! You can make a difference & make a few extra bucks doing it...

That Holiday Greeting Card will be out for all to see & what a Great Reminder? The Poinsettia's will hit the spot with your Female Customers, it will last a lot longer than the Greeting Card & that's who I dealt with over 90% of the Time! Keep them Happy & those checks will keep coming in!

Our main job & top priority is keeping the customer Happy... Everything else falls into place!

I just mailed my cards out yesterday, and am now getting supplies to make a few Gift Baskets, for my larger accounts. I have the same philosphy, give a little effort to show your appreciation of their business, and will return in repeat and additional customers.

All of our clients get christmas cards with our name and business name imprinted on them, they really look nice when you have them done up that way.

We have always delivered poinsettias. Clients love them. On our large accounts, we actually get the smaller poinsettias for every single cubicle in that office. Then a few of the larger ones for the lobby areas. The big ones are HUGE, like 2' across. One of our larger clients has 45 cubicles, but it's a big account. Others are smaller accounts than that. If I had just one small lawn and a big multi-story building, each cubicle wouldn't get a poinsettia.

We don't have many residentials, but some of the better ones get the flower as well. Not all residentials do though.

One of the guys I know from mountain biking runs his own coffee roasting company. I was thinking of sending out bags of some primo coffee to my customers for the holidays, along with a gift card. How do you guys think that would go over? I would run me about $5 per customer, but I figure I'll get that back many times over. How much do the poinsettias cost, and are they appropriate for customers who don't celebrate Christmas?

Personally I'd much rather get good coffee than flowers.
