  • Dixie Chopper questions??

    Hello everyone,
I got the privelege to try out the 60 in. xtreme dixie chopper that goes 15 mph on several of my residential yards. I previously own a 48 in scag and there were several questions I had that I thought about after leaving the dealer. The dealer has only been dealing them for about a month and still new to D.C. himself.
The first question is about adjusting the cut. On the left in front beside the blade (engage, disengage) switch there is an adjuster with like 3-10 or something (not sure but they were in whole numbers). The dealer said there was more to it than just moving these and that the deck ws set from the factory. I cut several of my yards on different levels according to the customer and just wanted to know if there is a way to adjust say from 2.5 to 3.25 in quarter inch increments?
The next question is about the gas tanks. My scag has a switch that you switch to the side you are using while from my understanding the dixie chopper has both tanks running together? Is there a way to cut one side off etc? This seems like if it doesn't this would be aggrevating to constantly keep look and take the chance of running out in the middle of big yards.
The final questions were basic about the generac motor and D.C. overall. Are these mowers good as far as hours of use and as far as reliability?
I was impressed at the power and cut of the D.C. definitely and would like to make this the second mower to my lco. It sits alot higher than the scag we are using now and the handles, whoa, you barely have to touch to move compared to my scag. I just noticed that my scag had several features that the D.C. may or may not have that I would like to have and vice versa.
Again I apologize for the ignorance and like I said, the dealer has had them for 1 month now and still seemed not to now all of the questions either. Thanks for any and all feedback

the deck adjusts upto 4.5 inches easy. but you can not do it on the fly. you have to come to a stop. to adjust it. the silver eagle model has a better adjust as it it foot operated and you can do it on the fly.

mine was beat to death last year i put 1240 hours on the machine in the last 13 months. i have replaced two drive belts, one mower deck belt, ignition switch, I dropped something on it, on wed's my day from hell it runs from 7:30am till i run out of gass, then fill it up again and run it till it runs out of gas fill it then run till dark. never any propblems with it running for such a long period of time. it does get hot. i've used it as everything possible, towing, pushing, dragging trees, used a piece of fence with boards on it to level a yard for sod

the engine feeds off both tanks. with 7- 14 gallons of fuel depending on which model. mine is 7 gallons and i can mow 10 yards in a day and not run out of fuel. they now have a fuel gauge on the gas caps that you can watch your levels..

new from dixie is the 36 and 44 inch ztr with 20 hp. very nice for small backyards. however they are priced low enough for a homeowner to afford one. bad news for us.

if i had the cash i would change my outfits from the 50"dixie and 36" jd hydro walk behind to the 72" dixie diesel with bagger and the 36" silver eagle. you can mow just about anything with that combo. I've seen leaf pickups with the 72 and they go thru an acre in about 30 min and the place is clean as a whistle.
